The relation between absolute magnitude and the light curve decay rate, as defined by Pskovskii (1977) is investigated in light of the apparent Type I supernovae (SN I) magnitudes, and distances to their parent galaxies, determined by de Vaucouleurs (1979). The absolute magnitude range of these supernovae is estimated to be about 2.0 mag, and their mean internal extinction in spiral galaxies is 0.5 mag. The adopted distance scale is found to be nonlinear, in the sense of excessive compression, in the 24.1-31.5 interval.
