Three H II regions, NGC 281, IC 434, and M 16 were photographed monochromatically to obtain H-alpha, N II at gamma = 6584, and O III at gamma = 5007 lines. The survey was taken to study the bright rims created when expanding hot H II regions encounter cooler H I regions. The expanding shock wave, in meeting the cool gas, causes the bright rims to form, which are physically an augmentation of temperature and pressure in gradients from inwards outward. An O III enhancement was detected near the bright rims in M 16 and bright rims in general were most apparent in the N II and O III plates.
