We propose an observation of Sco X-1 for 20 ks with XMM-Newton to perform a study of the relation between spectral components of the X-ray spectrum and their dependence on timing properties and mass accretion rate in energy bands between 0.2-12 keV, Fourier resolved spectroscopy and investigation on quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) properties for the first time below a few keV, possible detection of Fe-K emission lines produced by fluorescence in coronae surrounding the neutron star and their variability properties of the line width and its implication on the overall spectrum. Studies on frequency dependent X-ray time lags will allow us to investigate the nature of the medium surrounding the neutron star and diffusion of photons through scattering medium.
