We used high-resolution electronographic photographs taken with narrow-band filters to study the Large Magellanic Cloud H II region N159. We found a peculiar high-excitation compact object of size about 2 pc in this region. The object consists of two components separated by about 0.4 pc.
We studied also N159A. Comparatively, this H II region is less excited, although its exciting star is suspected to be earlier than 05. The excitation and extinction vary in N159A. The most excited zones are the most reddened ones.
