Ozone, water vapor, nitric acid and nitrogen dioxide measurements conducted during the October 23, 1980 Stratoprobe flight show a ratio of HNO3 to NO2 which is in agreement with that of a one-dimensional model employing current photochemistry. The measured ratio is used to infer proxy hydroxyl densities which are very low at less than 25 km altitude, in agreement with the findings of earlier flights.
