An asteroid discovered by Grigorii Neujmin in 1916, designated (951) Gaspra. In October 1991 it became the first asteroid to be imaged from close by when the Galileo probe passed it at a distance of about 16 000 km on its way to Jupiter. Images showed a highly angular body measuring 18×11×9 km, pitted with small craters but with few large craters, so either Gaspra has a strong, metal-rich surface...
