We propose to observe two pulsating subdwarf B (sdB) stars (EC05217- 3914 and PB8783) along with the DAV (or ZZ Ceti) variable white dwarf, HL Tau76, as part of a global Whole Earth Telescope (WET) run. We hope to use the pulsations of these stars to get detailed pictures of their interior structures and compositions. We seek to gain insights into each individual class of objects as well as the subdwarf to white dwarf evolutionary connection. Subdwarf B stars are commonly detected in sky surveys and are likely responsible for the ultraviolet excesses found in globular clusters and elliptical galaxies. Through their pulsations, we hope to learn about their origin and subsequent evolution, which is also applicable to population synthesis studies. HL Tau76 is a member of the most common sub-class of white dwarfs, the hydrogen surface-layer DAs. Extensive single-site campaigns on it have shown there are more modes to be discovered and used in an asteroseismological analysis that can only be obtained by intense global coverage. This star offers us the best chance of making meaningful asteroseismological measurements of any single DAV.
