High time resolution spectrophotometry has been used to determine the orbital period of V 436 Cen. The derived radial velocity curve demonstrates that the 90.0t0.3 minute orbital period is ˜2% shorter than the previously determined superhump period. The orbital and superhump periods thus follow the usual relation found in other SU UMa type dwarf novae. At 90.0 minutes V 436 Cen has the shortest orbital period of the classical (i.e., excluding WZ Sge) dwarf novae. For comparison purposes results of a radial velocity analysis of OY Car are also briefly presented.
