An effect observed at the onset and end of the totality phase in a total eclipse of the Sun. Just as the extreme edge of the Sun's disk is about to disappear behind (or emerge from behind) the Moon's disk, a bright arc of sunlight is seen, giving the impression of a ring. In conjunction with Baily's Beads-type bright points, the ring has highlights like a diamond ring....
