For the case of elliptical galaxies, the influence of ellipticity on different measures of brightness and integrated luminosity profiles are investigated under the simplifying assumptions that (1) the equivalent profile of an elliptical galaxy follows an r to the 1/4 power law, and (2) isophotes are homocentric ellipses with constant ellipticity and constant position angle. It is shown that a high ellipticity may lead to differences between the detailed profiles derived from different analyses, and that integrated profiles derived from photocentric photometry through circular apertures do not significantly depart from integrated equivalent profiles, except at small distances from the center.
