Scientific paper
Positions, morphological types, magnitudes which include internal absorption corrections as well as velocities are presented in a catalog of a complete sample of 180 Virgo cluster galaxies lying within 6 deg of M 87 and being brighter than a B(T) value of 14. The restriction of the catalog to a 6 deg-radius circle is intended to guard against the inclusion of a large fraction of possible foreground and background galaxies. It is noted that, since the excess gravitational field of the Virgo cluster imposes large Virgo centric motions on the expansion velocities of noncluster galaxies near to that cluster, a few of the galaxies considered may be infalling objects which have not yet interacted with other cluster members.
