The basic data and solution for the equinox correction are presented, which will be applied in the construction of the system of the Fifth Fundamental Catalogue, the FK5. A correction of + 0.035 s at 1950.0 to all right ascensions of the FK4, and the correction of + 0.085 s per century to all proper motion in right ascension of the FK4 are indicated. The FK4 equator has been confirmed within the given accuracy by recent observations, and thus the equator will be maintained in FK5.
