Results of infrared scans covering the error region of the gamma-ray burst event of April 6, 1979, and covering radio sources in the error region of the November 19, 1978, event are presented. No sources brighter than J = 17.5 mag were detected, and a distance exceeding 1500 pc is implied. It is suggested that the last stages of mass transfer have been detected, in which a more massive dwarf has been stripped to the lowest mass at which mass transfer can take place.
