The spectrum of Nova Coronae Austrinae 1981 was found to be similar to that of V1500 Cygni. The outburst ejected material in two polar caps and an equatorial torus roughly aligned in the line of sight. The ejection velocity was about 2.2 103 km s-1 This fast nova was apparently located in, or beyond the galactic bulge. The interstellar matter of the galactic disk attenuates the nova light by about 0.3 mag while at most 1.4 mag of extinction are probably contributed by bulge material. A comparison with novae of disk population is urged.
