Observations of the periodic comet Grigg-Skjellerup from 1808-1987 are discussed, and orbital characteristics including period of revolution, shortest distance between the earth and the comet, and shortest distance between their respective orbits, are derived. Modification of the comet's orbit due to proximity to Jupiter in 1904 and 1964 is noted, and it is observed that perturbations by Jupiter since 1967 have resulted in the comet passing significantly closer to the earth's orbit. Little variation in the major axis position is found for the present data set. The comet observed by Pons in 1808 has been identified as comet Grigg-Skjellerup.
