constellation that lies between Hydra and Vela, and culminates at
midnight in late February. It was named Antlia Pneumatica by the French
astronomer Nicholas L de Lacaille (1713-62), who charted the southern
sky in 1751-2. The IAU adopted the shortened form in 1922....
