The ratio of the focal length of a lens or mirror to its aperture. For a
lens or mirror of focal length, F, and aperture, D, the focal ratio, f,
is given by f=F/D. For example, a lens of 10 m focal length and 2 m
aperture would have a focal ratio of 10/2=5; this would be written as
`f:5'....
