A sample consisting of 1040 stars, mainly dwarfs of late spectral types, from the solar neighbourhood is studied. Among various spectroscopic data available for all of them we use the line-of-sight velocity and metallicity. A clear correlation between these two quantities is found. Based on it we establish the fractions of galactic subsystems in the sample. It is found: 93% for the thin disc, 6% for the thick disc and 1% for the halo. The halo stars are in the present sample the most easy to be separated, they are the metal-poorest in the sample. For the thin disc the velocity ellipsoid is determined.
