The NASA Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) is the principal observatory in the world dedicated to solar system astronomy; 50% of the observing time is specifically reserved for such observations. It is a 3 m telescope located at 4145 m on the summit of Mauna Kea, on the island of Hawaii.
