Born in Königsberg (latinized in his trade name), Mainz (now Germany), a pupil of PEURBACH. Succeeded him as professor of astronomy at the University of Vienna, and became astronomer to King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary. He built an observatory and instrument workshop in Nuremberg. Observed Halley's Comet in 1472 and eclipses of the Moon. This led him to suggest that eclipse timing and techniques...
