Irish astronomer, born in Athlone, on the recommendation of NEVIL
MASKELYNE became first director of Armagh Observatory, where he
supervised the erection of the equatorial telescope by EDWARD TROUGHTON.
The benefits of his efforts were reaped in science not by himself but by
the third director of Armagh Observatory ROMNEY ROBINSON....
