Italian astronomer, born in Milan, studied in Padua. He attacked GALILEO over his three public lectures, delivered at the University of Padua on the new star which appeared in 1604, and crossed swords with him in an incident in which Capra plagiarized Galileo's work on the proportional compass. Galileo replied with a devastating defense, and Capra was expelled from the university. See SIMON MARIU...
