Greek philosopher, born in Cyzicus, Asia Minor (now Turkey), a younger contemporary of EUDOXUS, who added more spheres to Eudoxus' nests of spheres to account better for the non-uniformities of planetary motion. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars each had five spheres while Jupiter and Saturn had four and the stars had one. This increased the accuracy of the theory while preserving the belief...
