Although the parent comet 55P/Tempel(Tuttle is now almost four years past perihelion, the Leonids continue to excite considerable interest, with major activity still possible this year. The model of the Leonid meteoroid stream as a collection of interwoven filaments or arcs of material released at separate perihelion passages of the comet, developed by Robert McNaught and David Asher, has been successful both in predicting intervals of high activity, and explaining past outbursts including that of 1998. In 1999, a Leonid storm with corrected Equivalent Zenithal Hourly Rate (EZHR) around 2500(2700 was seen close to the expected time of November 18d 02h UT by observers under clear skies in Sinai and the Mediterranean region.1
