The old NOVA DQ Herculis (Nova Herculis 1934) is the prototype of its CATACLYSMIC BINARY sub-class, distinguished by a rapidly rotating weak-field magnetic WHITE DWARF accreting primary. The magnetic moments in the DQ Her white dwarfs are weak enough (1032-1034 G cm3) that the Keplerian-disk ACCRETION flow is broken up only a few stellar radii above the white dwarf surface.
