CIRS observations were made in 2005 during the first set of orbits designed for prime ring viewing observatons. From observations near the zero phase region of the rings, the CIRS data showed an anomalously high thermal signature in the rings at a phase angle inside of about 15 degrees which varies across the main rings An observation was planned to be executed in the nex series of "ring orbits" and designed to look at this effect in more detail . Findings from the full set of CIRS zero phase observations will be discussed along with some preliminary modelling results
This research was carried out at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology,
under contract with NASA
