I will review the broad band X-ray spectral properties of Seyfert 2
galaxies. Recent X-ray spectral and variability studies of Seyferts 2
revealed a complex nature of the X-ray absorbers in these sources. I
will discuss possible scenarios for the absorbers and their consequences
for the contribution of Seyferts 2 to the Cosmic X-ray Background.
