Observations with Chandra, Newton-XMM, and RXTE of young, isolated neutron stars are increasingly giving insight into many long standing problems. Recent X-ray observations are further constraining models of high-energy emission from young pulsars and are beginning to constrain the neutron star equation of state. The identification of SGRs and AXPs as magnetars is becoming firmer, and the dividing line between these two source classes has been blurred even further. X-ray imaging and radio pulsation searches continue to discover new, energetic pulsars providing ready targets for the next generation of γ -ray telescopes.
