The apparent rotation period of Saturn is indirectly determined from studying the kilometric radio emission (SKR). Comparison of the Cassini-inferred SKR period with that obtained from Voyager showed a change in the apparent rotation period, and a more recent plot from the Cassini Radio and Plasma Wave Science (RPWS) team reveals a continuing trend since SOI. Although the reasons for these changes of the SKR period are not well understood, it is known from both Voyager and Cassini that the SKR intensity is sensitive to variations in the local solar wind dynamic pressure. We examine whether the SKR period is also affected by solar wind dynamic pressure using models of the solar wind at 10 AU during the period of Cassini measurements. We examine for trends which have time scales on the order of one solar rotation or larger. For this study we use a newly available MHD solar wind simulation model at the Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC) that we validate using archives of outer heliospheric solar wind measurements from Pioneer and Voyager spacecraft.
