Scientific paper

An examination of the first plates of the ESO-SRC Sky Survey shows that
the NGC 1566 cluster overlaps the error box of X-ray source 3U 0400-59.
Since the error box has an area of 9 square degrees, confirmation of the
source must be made by a second generation satellite, such as UK-5.
Other objects found within the error box are also described.
