Intensive and extensive optical continuum (B band) linear polarization observations of the late-type supergiant Betelgeuse have been carried out over four consecutive observing seasons: 1979 - 1983. Major ordered polarization changes have been monitored over this interval. These changes originate in or near the photosphere and probably arise from the waxing and waning of large-scale convection cells.
