ON August 11 a soft X-ray photograph of the Sun (Fig. 1) was obtained
from a three-axis stabilized rocket vehicle. The head of a Skylark
rocket launched from Woomera, Australia, was stabilized by a three-axis
system developed by Elliott Bros., Space, and G.W. Division, under
contract to the Royal Aircraft Establishment.
