The theory of negative-ion photochemistry is used to investigate the effect of O2(-) and NO2(-) ions on the behavior of ozone in the midlatitude stratosphere in the case of a high level of ionization. It is shown that the role of negative ions in the destruction of ozone is insignificant under such conditions. It is suggested that this result can be extended to the low-latitude stratosphere.
