During the current AGILE pointing at the Vela region, started on 2008 June 30, SuperAGILE detects increasing hard X-ray emission from the Be transient binary pulsar GRO J1008-57, usually below the detection threshold on day-timescale. In the 20-60 keV energy range the source was detected at 30 mCrab level in the 24 hours starting on 2008 July 15 09:00 UT. In the subsequent 24 hours the average flux increased to 45 mCrab, and in the last 24 hours it rose to about 65 mCrab.
