We present initial results from the Gemini-South/FLAMINGOS demonstration science observations of the Hubble Deep Field South and the GOODS Southern Field (A.K.A. the Chandra Deep Field South). These observations, obtained UT 2002 November 4-9, represent a multi-faceted campaign targeting objects at a range of infrared magnitude (K Vega ~ 16 - 22) and with a variety of scientific objectives. Weather permitting, we report on X-ray sources identified with Chandra, extremely red galaxies, brighter galaxies whose photometric redshifts place interesting features in the infrared, and a magnitude-limited, K-selected sample. We also report on the scientific capabilities of the FLAMINGOS cryogenically-cooled, multi-object, slitmask spectrograph when used with the Gemini-South 8m telescope.
