In this paper we discuss the chemical composition of V838 Mon derived from the spectra obtained on March 2002. The atmospheric parameters found are: Teff=4750±250 K, log g=-1.0, and ξt=12 km s-1. The standard LTE analysis shows that V838 Mon is a mildly metal deficient ([Fe/H]=-0.4) chemically not evolved star.
